Innovation makes life better. It brings new opportunities and choices for people around the world. At HUGHES, that's what we've built our business on. Whether providing managed network services for corporations and government agencies, or high-speed Internet access for small businesses and consumers, we define success as helping each customer achieve more. We're bridging the best of satellite and terrestrial technologies to unlock the value of broadband and expand the universe of possibilities for all our customers.

Hughes' introduction of the first Ku-band small satellite antenna terminals, commonly known as very small aperture terminals (VSATs) over 20 years ago, enables Hughes to provide enterprises and governments with highly reliable, end-to-end communications networks and service with guaranteed quality of service (QoS) regardless of the number of sites or their geographic location. Hughes networks are used for a variety of applications such as Internet and intranet access, connectivity amongst dispersed locations and to suppliers and franchisees, credit/debit authorization, inventory management, content delivery and video distribution, and voice services. Hughes often customizes the applications for particular markets.

Hughes currently serves large corporations, many of them in the Fortune 1000, mainly in businesses, which have numerous widely dispersed operating units, for example retail gas stations, retail chain stores, automotive dealerships, restaurants, and financial services. Hughes also serves the government market for such applications as distance learning, Continuity of Operations (COOP), and rural telephony. Hughes has leveraged its experience with such customers and adapted its technologies to expand into other growing market segments such as small business and residential users.

Since introducing the Ku-band very small aperture terminal (VSAT) over 20 years ago, Hughes has been the technology and market leader in satellite networks, with over 1.2 million systems shipped to customers in over 100 countries. According to Comsys VSAT Reports published from 1988 to 2005, Hughes has consistently held over 50 percent cumulative market share of the global VSAT business. We are also a major provider of mobile satellite and terrestrial microwave systems. HughesNet(TM) is our service brand, encompassing all broadband solutions and managed services from Hughes.

Hughes' leadership spans all aspects of broadband technology and product development, standards, and network solutions and services. From managing far-flung networks of multinational corporations and government agencies, to delivering broadband Internet access to small offices and consumers, Hughes offers reliable and affordable solutions to meet every communications challenge. Headquartered outside Washington, D.C., in Germantown, Maryland, USA, Hughes maintains sales and support offices worldwide. HughesNet branded services and solutions are marketed directly by Hughes throughout North America, Brazil, Europe, and India, where it owns and operates the network infrastructure.

Pradman P. Kaul, president and chief executive officer of Hughes Communications, stated, "Our listing on the NASDAQ represents a significant milestone for everyone associated with Hughes--employees, customers, suppliers and shareholders. As the inventor of VSATs and leading provider of satellite networks for over 20 years, we are proud to continue this heritage on the exchange with so many of the world's technology leaders."
